Salwa Musa
Salwa Musa is an experienced public health nurse and a PhD student at the University of Alberta, Faculty of Nursing. She holds a Bachelor of Nursing from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson) and a Master of Nursing from York University. Salwa's clinical expertise spans critical care, pediatrics, public health, and nursing education.
As a public health nurse, her research is situated at the intersections of health equity, social
determinants of health, public health and community development - focusing on understanding the lived experiences of people who face social barriers to health and well-being. Currently, her research is focused on substance use and harm reduction strategies within Black populations. Through her research, Salwa is committed to enhancing understanding and developing effective culturally sensitive harm reduction policies and practices.
