Nyal Mirza

Nyal Mirza, BSc. Spec is a research assistant with the Inner City Health and Wellness Program and an MSc student in the University of Alberta’s Health Policy Research program with the School of Public Health. Nyal received his BSc Spec. in Pharmacology where he researched the gut microbiomes effect on opioid withdrawal in a preclinical basic sciences lab. Nyal will be working on a project for those providing care to people who use drugs in rural/remote settings. Nyal is also interested in specific barriers the South Asian community faces regarding substance use. Outside of research, Nyal is involved with numerous student group on campus, and enjoys staying active and playing volleyball.
