Merrin Monteith
Merrin Monteith, BSc, is pursuing an MSc in Epidemiology at the School of Public Health at the University of Alberta. Her research focuses on the predictors of recent treatment engagement among people who use drugs with comorbid mental health conditions. Merrin completed her Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience at the University of Lethbridge in 2022, where she researched the effects of low-dose CBD treatments for neurodegeneration.
Additionally, she worked as a Research Assistant in the Social Epidemiology Lab on a project assessing barriers to addiction recovery in Lethbridge. This experience ignited her interest in pursuing research to improve harm reduction initiatives and support health equity for vulnerable populations. Outside of her research, Merrin is active in the SPH community as an executive team member of the School of Public Health Students’ Association. In her free time, she enjoys snowboarding, baking, and crocheting.
