Emily Berg
Emily Berg, MSc, is a PhD student in the School of Public Health at the
University of Alberta. Emily was born and raised in Edmonton, where she
completed her BSc with distinction, double majoring in Biological Sciences
and Psychology (2021). She remained at the University of Alberta to
continue her graduate education, completing her MSc in Physiology (2024),
studying the effects of nutrition on chronic illness. During her masters,
Emily participated in a graduate internship program, delving into a national
project on Post-Secondary Student Homelessness and health inequity. This
sparked her interest and drive to combat chronic disorders in vulnerable
populations at a macro level, driving her pursuit of a PhD in Public Health.
Emily’s proposed doctoral research will evaluate the supervised
consumption site at the Royal Alexandra Hospital with a particular focus on
equitable access in housing unstable populations. In Emily’s free time, you
can find her running with her Bernedoodle Schmidt.
